“Daughter of Dr. Jekyll” is a 1957 American horror film directed by Edgar G. Ulmer12. The movie stars Gloria Talbott as Janet Smith, who discovers she is the daughter of the infamous Dr. Henry Jekyll. Convinced by her guardian, Dr. Lomas (played by Arthur Shields), that she has inherited her father’s transformative condition, Janet begins to believe she may also have a split personality, one of whom is a ruthless killer12.
The film is a variation on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"2. It’s a classic example of 1950s “B” horror movies, known for its low-budget production and atmospheric storytelling.
